I am excited, honored and humbled this month to be launching “Spread Your Wings with Wingman,” our collaboration with Dylan’s Wings of Change at New Fairfield Middle School.
DWC founder Ian Hockley founded “Wingman,” an incredible social and emotional learning curriculum that teaches kids compassion and inclusivity that is now in forty-plus schools in the tristate area and 240 dance studios in the U.S., Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. Ian founded “Wingman” in honor of his beautiful 6-year-old son, Dylan, who tragically lost his life in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Our first event at Dell Children’s Hospital broke all fundraising records at their 2017 “Art of Giving” event, and we hope to break even more records this round!
How special that we get to unite the ideas of teaching kids compassion with the benefits of art-making – or, shall I say, angel wing making? Last but not least, my incredible husband, artist Bobby Jacobs, will be sculpting a beautiful Angel Wing for each location where we share, “Spread Your Wings with Wingman.” Bobby is best-known for his Angel Wing sculptures that he created for Dell Children’s Hospital and for the city of Las Vegas, in honor of the lives tragically lost there on 10/1/17.
Please join us in making angel wings by sponsoring feathers that will be painted by kids for inclusion in the final angel wing art!
“Spread Your Wings” was founded as an uplifting response to the challenges facing our nation today. We aim to unite kids and communities everywhere in the proven, profound healing benefits of the arts and art therapy. The idea was originally inspired by beautiful Ben Breedlove, whose YouTube video of his near-death experience with angels and God went viral around the world – after his passing. Ben’s incredible message and legacy lives on through The Spread Your Wings Project, bringing love, hope and courage to a world in continual need of love, connection and healing. Thank you Ben!!
Stay tuned for social media updates and videos of this incredibly powerful, uplifting event!
